LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field teams wrapped up competition in the Texas Tech Classic Saturday afternoon with a thrilling women's 4x4 relay that earned them a provisional mark in the NCAA national track meet, Saturday in the Athletic Training Center on the Tech campus.

Highlighting the women's team was sprinter Tiffany Green who sprinted to a pair of second place finishes in the 55-meter dash (6.97) and the 200 (24.27). Her time in the 200 was good enough to provisionally qualify her for the national meet in Fayetteville, Ark. On March 8-9. Senior Melanie Barrow took first in the 400 posting a time of 55.76 while sophomore Bridget Tidwell placed second in the 5,000M run (18:10.64) and fourth in the 3,000M run (10:21.45).

The men's team had several standout performances highlighted by freshman Ivory McCann's first place-provisional qualifying time of 47.25 in the 400. McCann was followed closely by teammates Albert Booker and Julieon Raeburn who placed second and fourth respectively. Freshman Jonathan Johnson also provisionally qualified for the NCAA meet in the 800 as he ran a second place time of 1:50.09.

Both teams will be back in action Feb. 1-2 in the Red Raider Classic.
