LUBBOCK, Texas - ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America track and field and cross country teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), were announced and Texas Tech's Patience Knight was named to the third team.

Knight had a breakout season in 2008. She earned two All-American honors in the shot put and won the Big 12 Indoor and Outdoor Championships. She owns both school records in the indoor (56'-8") and outdoor (57'-11") shot put as well. The Wildlife Management and Range Management major compiled a 3.94 GPA during the season.

Junior Nathan Lowry earned CoSIDA All-District honors with a 3.95 GPA. Lowry earned All-Big 12 honors in the 110M hurdles during the outdoor season.

Senior Julianne Kennedy earned CoSIDA All-District honors with a 3.93 GPA. She won the Big 12 indoor pentathlon and is the school-record holder in the pentathlon and heptathlon.

To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
